University of Sussex Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027 in the UK: Fully Funded Doctoral Scholarships for International Students

Requirements Being from an eligible country alone does not automatically make a candidate eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must satisfy the additional Commonwealth PhD Scholarship requirements. 1. Citizenship, Refugee Status and Residency Requirement Applicants must: Be a citizen of an eligible country or have refugee status in an eligible country ; and Be a permanent resident of that country . Candidates should ensure that they can provide any documentation required to establish their eligibility. 2. Availability to Begin Studies in 2027 Applicants must be available to begin their academic studies in the United Kingdom by the beginning of the UK academic year in September/October 2027 . Candidates who cannot meet the required commencement period should carefully review the scholarship conditions before applying. 3. Academic Qualification Requirements By October 2027 , applicants must hold either: A first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard ; or A second-class degree together with a relevant postgraduate qualification , which would usually be a Master’s degree. Applicants should therefore carefully assess whether their qualifications meet the required academic standard. 4. Existing PhD Registration Restrictions Applicants must not already be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, at a UK university before September/October 2027 .
