Requirements Eligible applicants include media organizations located in coastal countries with marine borders . Examples include: Newspapers Television broadcasters Radio stations Online media organizations Multimedia journalism platforms Journalist collectives Journalism support organizations Media networks Applications from Ghana, Mexico, and the Philippines are strongly encouraged. The following organizations are not eligible : NGOs Civil society organizations Universities Academic institutions Environmental advocacy groups Political campaign organizations Former EJN grantees may apply, although previous performance will be considered. Organizations currently receiving another EJN grant are not eligible. Language Requirements Applications will only be accepted in: English Spanish Projects may publish their journalism in any language most appropriate for their audiences. Budget Requirements Applicants must submit: A detailed project budget Budget justification Completed Excel budget template Grant funds may be used for: Reporting expenses Journalist training Travel Equipment purchases (where justified) Safety measures Other reasonable project costs Equipment purchases should represent only a small portion of the total budget and clearly contribute to project outcomes. Applicants are also welcome to secure additional co-financing, although this is not mandatory.
