Requirements Applicants must also satisfy all of the following requirements: 1. Organizational History Organizations must have existed for at least three years before applying. For fiscally sponsored organizations, eligibility is determined using the date of the fiscal sponsorship agreement. 2. Leadership Stability Applicants must have an Executive Director who has served continuously for at least one full year. 3. Financial Stability Applicants must have: Annual operating budget of at least $50,000 Budget excludes in-kind or non-cash contributions For fiscally sponsored organizations, the applicant organization—not the fiscal sponsor—must meet this requirement. Organizations That Are Not Eligible The Literary Arts Fund does not currently support: Screenwriting organizations Playwriting organizations Oral storytelling nonprofits Writing therapy organizations University or college departments University-sponsored projects Organizations primarily supporting young writers Arts education organizations focused on K–12 students Literacy organizations that teach reading or writing skills Academic libraries School libraries Public libraries Research libraries Trade associations serving nonprofits Collaborative Applications Organizations may submit collaborative proposals.
