Applied AI Engineer

Company Overview: A global private investment firm with over $120 billion in assets under management is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their AI Innovation Lab. This role involves prototyping and integrating AI-powered solutions to drive business value. Job Responsibilities: Build AI-powered prototypes and pilots, including chat/agent experiences, workflow automation, and intelligent copilots for internal teams. Integrate LLMs and other AI services with enterprise systems such as APIs, data warehouses, and productivity tools. Stand up vector retrieval/embedding pipelines and lightweight orchestration layers for pilots. Own prompt engineering and system prompt design for pilot use cases. Run small-scale evaluations and instrument prototypes to capture feedback and usage data. Work with the Data MVP/Platform team to transition successful pilots to governed solutions. Implement privacy, security, and compliance controls as defined by the Lab and CTO. Document pilot architecture, data flows, and limitations, and partner with AI Enablement Specialists to teach business users. Qualifications: 4+ years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied data science. Experience building with large language models or similar advanced AI systems. Strong Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript skills. Familiarity with data platforms and modern data stacks, such as Snowflake. Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and understanding AI governance and security. Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or related field.
