Associate Software Engineer (TypeScript)
Description
ABOUT CLERIE Clerie started at BYU and has grown significantly since. We're building an electronic health record (EHR) platform for behavioral health practices, with a HIPAA-compliant AI assistant that automates the work that buries clinicians in admin: scheduling appointments, drafting case notes, generating custom reports, and streamlining insurance claims. Clinicians can do tasks themselves or hand them off to Clerie's AI. Our goal is simple: less paperwork, more time for patient care and practice growth. WHY THIS ROLE You'll join a small engineering team as an early hire, which means real ownership from week one. Your code ships to customers quickly, you'll work directly with leadership, and you'll learn the full product instead of one narrow slice. As Clerie scales, you'll have a clear path to grow into mid-level, senior, and technical leadership roles. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and ship features and improvements across our TypeScript codebase
- Fix bugs reported by customers and the support team
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Work with product and leadership to turn customer needs into working software
- Help improve reliability, performance, and developer tooling
- Learn healthcare workflows (scheduling, notes, billing, claims) and how AI features fit into them
- Contribute to technical documentation WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Required: Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript
- Required: Strong programming fundamentals (data structures, APIs, debugging)
- Required: Degree or coursework in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (internships, bootcamp, or personal projects)
- Familiarity with [React / Node.js / your framework], Git, and REST APIs
- Basic SQL knowledge
- A portfolio, GitHub, or class projects we can look at
- Clear communication and a willingness to ask questions and learn fast
- Nice to have: experience with SaaS, healthcare technology, or AI/LLM tools
- Nice to have: interest in HIPAA and secure handling of sensitive data WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-time, hybrid role in Provo, UT with flexibility to work from home part of the week
- Competitive pay: $60,000 - $80,000 depending on experience
- Opportunity to earn equity as the company grows
- Mentorship from an experienced team and real career growth
- Meaningful work that helps clinicians spend more time with patients
