About The Role Our AI Agent Platform team is at the forefront of developing Quo's customer-facing AI agents, including Sona, our AI assistant for calls and texts, and Quo Agent, our newly launched workspace agent. This role is critical as the agents are already live with customers, and the challenges ahead involve scaling, enhancing capabilities, and improving reliability. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for this team, responsible for defining and executing the architectural vision that underpins our agent platform. You will have a direct impact on how AI-driven interactions are experienced by our customers and how other teams leverage our platform for their own product development. Your work will involve designing complex orchestration systems, memory and self-learning features, and ensuring the platform's performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness grow in tandem with our user base. You will mentor engineers, advocate for best practices, and stay engaged with the latest advancements in large language models (LLMs) and agent tooling to inform our product roadmap. Qualifications Proven experience in building and scaling backend systems for high-traffic products Hands-on experience deploying LLM-powered systems, especially agent platforms or orchestration layers Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, or fluency in other backend languages such as Python, Java, or Go Experience with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and workflow engines like Temporal or similar Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and container orchestration with Kubernetes Knowledge of databases such as Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and caching systems like Redis Understanding of observability tools including Datadog or equivalent for monitoring and troubleshooting Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear design documents and explain technical trade-offs High level of ownership, initiative, and ability to work independently in a remote environment Passion for AI, machine learning, and staying current with industry developments Responsibilities Define and own the architecture of Quo's AI agent platform, including creation, deployment, and execution layers Develop advanced orchestration capabilities, enabling complex multi-agent workflows and long-running tasks Design and implement memory and self-learning features to improve agent performance over time Ensure the platform's scalability, performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency as usage expands Build developer-friendly tools, documentation, and defaults to facilitate cross-team adoption and innovation Mentor and review work of engineering team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence Stay informed on latest AI and LLM advancements, translating insights into actionable product strategies Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align platform development with business goals Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and hands-on coding to drive platform evolution Benefits Competitive annual salary, commensurate with experience and skills Equity options aligned with company growth Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Monthly lifestyle stipend to support well-being and productivity Flexible PTO policy to promote work-life balance Remote-first work environment with opportunities to connect in hub cities Professional development opportunities and a dynamic, innovative team culture Equal Opportunity Quo is an equal opportunity employer.
