Flutter Mobile Engineer

Expedia, Inc.'s Layla AI Team is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer (Flutter) to help create cross-platform mobile experiences that make travel planning more intuitive and enjoyable. About The Role As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you'll take ownership of mobile features from early technical discovery through implementation, testing, release, and ongoing improvement. You'll use Flutter to deliver consistent experiences across iOS and Android while considering the specific requirements and behaviors of each platform. You'll partner closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other collaborators to shape solutions, clarify requirements, and deliver work that meets user and business needs. The role also includes contributing to mobile architecture, improving engineering practices, and supporting the responsible integration of AI and machine learning capabilities. You'll help monitor performance and quality after release, using feedback and technical insights to guide improvements. Qualifications You bring substantial experience building and maintaining mobile applications, including strong hands-on expertise with Flutter and Dart. You understand cross-platform development and can make sound decisions about shared implementations, platform-specific behavior, and maintainable application architecture. Your experience includes delivering production software and working through the full development lifecycle. You are comfortable with automated testing and quality practices, and have experience contributing to continuous integration and continuous delivery workflows. You can investigate performance issues, evaluate technical trade-offs, and use monitoring or diagnostic information to improve reliability. You communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical partners, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and can take ownership of complex work with appropriate independence. Experience mentoring engineers or guiding technical decisions is valuable. Familiarity with integrating backend services and incorporating AI or machine learning capabilities into user-facing products is also beneficial. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Flutter features for Layla's iOS and Android applications. Own assigned work end to end, from technical planning and implementation through release, monitoring, and iteration. Collaborate with product, design, backend, and other engineering partners to translate traveler needs into clear, intuitive mobile flows. Contribute to mobile architecture and establish patterns that support maintainable, secure, and scalable development. Build and improve automated tests, participate in code reviews, and strengthen CI/CD practices. Monitor application performance and reliability, identify issues, and implement improvements. Integrate with backend services and contribute to responsible AI/ML-powered experiences. Share knowledge, provide technical guidance, and mentor teammates as appropriate.
