We are focused on owner managed businesses and specialized tax services. Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or experienced public practice accountant who is looking for increased responsibility, meaningful client interaction, and long-term career growth in a supportive environment. Whether you are a newly designated CPA ready to take the next step in your career or an experienced accountant this role offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, work directly with business owners, and grow into a leadership position. You will work with a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and individuals, with exposure to accounting, tax, reporting, planning, and advisory work. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of client files while collaborating closely with the partners and broader team. Responsibilities * Prepare and review compilation engagements and financial statements in accordance with CSRS 4200. * Prepare review engagements. * Prepare and review corporate, personal, partnership, and trust income tax returns. * Prepare T4/T4A/T5 slips. * Help train and provide guidance to train junior tax accountants. * Work with business owners to identify tax planning and business advisory opportunities. * Communicate with clients and the Canada Revenue Agency. * Research technical accounting and tax issues and develop practical solutions for clients. * Take increasing ownership and responsibility for client relationships and engagements. * Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm. Qualities The ideal candidate will have: * A CPA designation or be newly designated with relevant and strong public practice experience. * Experience preparing and reviewing corporate, personal and trust tax returns. * Experience preparing and reviewing compilation engagements and financial statements. * Experience working with owner-managed businesses and an understanding of their reporting and planning needs. * Strong accounting and tax knowledge, with an interest in continued technical development. * Experience with payroll and general accounting processes. * Strong research and problem-solving abilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. * A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality. * Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office. * Experience with CaseWare/CaseView and professional tax software is an asset. * The ability to work independently while recognizing when to ask questions or seek guidance. * The ability to manage multiple priorities and remain effective during busy periods. * Kind, respectful, and professional. * Hardworking, dependable, and accountable. * A self-starter who takes initiative. * Collaborative and supportive of their teammates. * Adaptable and comfortable with changing priorities. * Focused on delivering exceptional client service. * Interested in building long-term relationships with clients and colleagues. * Motivated to grow both professionally and personally.
