About The Role We are partnering with a growing Dallas-based marketing and communications agency to hire a Web Development Manager. This is a highly hands-on role designed for an experienced developer who can take ownership of the technical delivery of complex client websites from discovery through launch. The ideal candidate will be a strong Drupal developer with WordPress experience, comfortable writing code, collaborating directly with clients, and working closely with UX and design teams. While this role includes managing one direct report, it is primarily focused on delivering high-quality web projects with deep technical involvement rather than traditional people management. The Web Development Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful creation, deployment, and maintenance of client websites, contributing both technical expertise and strategic project oversight. Qualifications 5 to 10+ years of professional web development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects. Strong expertise in developing and maintaining WordPress websites, with extensive hands-on coding skills. Experience owning and managing custom website projects from initial requirements gathering through to launch and ongoing support. Deep understanding of Drupal development, alongside WordPress, to handle diverse client needs. Excellent client-facing communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Experience collaborating with UX and design teams to transform creative concepts into fully functional websites. Knowledge of web development best practices including accessibility, SEO, security, and deployment processes. Experience integrating third-party APIs and platforms such as CRM systems, ATS, search engines, and mapping services. Comfortable balancing hands-on coding, client interactions, and project management responsibilities. Agency or consulting background is highly desirable, especially for those who have developed strong client relationships and managed end-to-end projects. Experience building B2B websites for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, technology, or professional services is a plus. Responsibilities Own the technical delivery of client website projects from discovery and requirements gathering through development, testing, launch, and ongoing maintenance. Remain actively involved in development, especially within Drupal and WordPress, ensuring high-quality, responsive, accessible, and secure websites. Engage directly with clients to understand their business needs, recommend suitable solutions, and translate these into detailed technical requirements. Collaborate closely with UX and design teams to review sitemaps, wireframes, designs, and functionality, ensuring technical feasibility and optimal implementation. Make critical technical architecture decisions and oversee development workflows to meet project timelines and budgets. Manage project scope, priorities, and deliverables, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Implement integrations with third-party APIs and platforms to enhance website functionality and align with client business processes. Conduct quality assurance testing, troubleshoot technical issues, and support website security and performance enhancements. Provide technical guidance and support to the direct report, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
