Mathnasium of Pickering is currently seeking part-time instructors with exceptional math abilities, good communication skills, a good attitude and capable of quickly building trusting relationships with children and their parents. A love of teaching and making math fun is also a definite asset. Instructors will be trained in the Mathnasium method and will be required to teach this innovative approach to math to our students. Our method is proven and effective because we make math make sense, and we are changing lives through Math. Responsibilities Complete Mathnasium instructor training. Updating when required. Math instruction and tutoring using the Mathnasium method Encourage and motivate students Perform administrative tasks to support the Mathnasium teaching and tutoring cycle Support Learning Centre goals, strategies and approaches Ability to perform well in a busy fast paced learning environment Able to teach up to upper-high school (e.g. advanced Functions, Calculus, Data Management, Algebra, etc.). We have students from K-12. Maintain an organized, clean and professional classroom environment Qualifications Any or a combination of the following could qualify you to be chosen as one of our learning centre math instructors Registered Teacher in Math or an Experienced Math Teaching Professional Working professional with a strong math background and the ability to teach University or College graduate from a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program who is available and showing good results in math Ontario Certified Teacher (Math) Registered Early Childhood Educator Requirements Will be required to undergo a background check Will be required to write an employment math test Must be available Monday-Thursday, 3PM-7PM Confident, a good communicator, outgoing, professional, punctual and friendly Available for after school hours and weekends Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an asset Classroom management experience is an asset Prior experience working with children is an asset Good team player, self-management, and emotional intelligence are definite assets
