About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Backend Developer to join our dynamic team at GrabJobs. As a backend developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our core backend systems that support our platform’s functionalities. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and high-performance backend solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to deliver reliable, innovative features that connect employers and job seekers globally. Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience, with at least 3 years specializing in PHP development within production environments. A strong foundation in MySQL, including relational database design, query optimization, and management, is essential. Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS, utilizing services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate technical concepts clearly and contribute to cross-functional projects. Prior experience with CI/CD pipelines, security best practices, and version control systems like Git is required. Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Python or Ruby on Rails is a plus, as is a proactive attitude toward learning and mentoring junior developers. Responsibilities Design and develop scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and manage databases using PHP and MySQL to support platform features and integrations. Deploy and maintain applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, Lambda, and S3, ensuring high availability and performance. Contribute to architectural decisions, technical strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system efficiency and scalability. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and coding standards. Optimize database schemas and queries to enhance system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to resolve them. Develop and execute unit tests, debug issues, and troubleshoot problems in both development and production environments to ensure system stability. Implement security protocols and secure coding practices to safeguard data and maintain platform integrity. Participate in code reviews, maintain version control through Git, and produce comprehensive technical documentation. Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions and meet project milestones. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, recommending architectural improvements and innovative solutions.
