Junior DevOps Engineer (GitHub Actions & CI Troubleshooting) (Contract | Remote | EST hours) Overview: Optomi, in partnership with a leading home improvement retailer, is seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support enterprise CI/CD modernization initiatives across a large-scale IT organization. This role will focus heavily on GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipeline troubleshooting, and supporting internal engineering teams as they migrate to enterprise-standard CI platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and customer service skills. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to development teams, helping diagnose pipeline issues, guide migration efforts, and improve deployment reliability. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, strong debugging abilities, and the ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented environment that frequently utilizes mobbing sessions to solve complex challenges. Responsibilities: Support internal engineering teams as they migrate and modernize CI/CD pipelines. Troubleshoot and resolve issues within GitHub Actions workflows and CI/CD processes. Assist developers with pipeline configuration, workflow creation, repository integrations, and deployment automation. Debug failures across the software delivery lifecycle, including versioning, scanning, building, containerization, and deployment. Work with Bash and JavaScript to modify and optimize workflows. Utilize GitHub-flavored YAML for configuration and automation. Ensure standardized and efficient CI processes by following established migration plans. Develop and update Bash/JavaScript scripts to support pipeline automation. Leverage Docker to build, package, and deploy applications. Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline-related issues during migration. Work closely with senior engineers and DevOps teams to ensure a smooth migration Follow task assignments and execute work efficiently with minimal oversight. Document migration processes and pipeline modifications as needed. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions. Strong experience with YAML. Proven experience troubleshooting and debugging CI/CD pipeline issues. Experience supporting software delivery from code commit through production deployment. Knowledge of Docker and containerized application workflows. Experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, or Groovy. Strong understanding of source control and repository management. Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer-service skills. Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Jenkins, TeamCity, or Concourse. Experience supporting CI/CD migration initiatives. Background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Developer Enablement, or Developer Productivity environments. Familiarity with enterprise-scale software delivery and deployment practices. Experience working in cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Show more Show less
