About the Role: The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and supporting cloud-native solutions within AWS environments. The individual will work closely with development, security, and operations teams to build secure, scalable, resilient, and highly automated cloud infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications and services. The Cloud Engineer will help ensure technical quality, operational excellence, and compliance with organizational and government requirements while coordinating closely with Government technical leads. Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native solutions on AWS. Develop and support highly automated infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevSecOps best practices. Configure, deploy, and manage AWS services, including containerized and serverless workloads. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support application deployment and operational efficiency. Implement cloud security controls, monitoring, logging, and automation solutions. Support cloud networking, identity management, and access control requirements. Collaborate with development, testing, security, and operations teams to support application lifecycle activities. Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure and application issues. Support performance optimization, scalability, resiliency, and availability objectives. Participate in infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate technical activities with Government technical leads and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with organizational, security, and contractual requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Strong experience in Amazon AWS Cloud technologies. Experience in organizing, directing, and managing multiple, complex, and interrelated application development and testing tasks. The individuals should be responsible for technical quality and coordination with government technical leads throughout information technology (IT) and shall be available during normal hours of operation. Advanced Cloud certifications in good standing Certifications (Required): Candidates must possess one or more advanced AWS certifications in good standing , such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty AWS Certified Security – Specialty AWS Certified Developer – Associate Required Skills Minimum seven (7) years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly automated cloud-native solutions on AWS. Demonstrated experience building and supporting scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments. Experience supporting multiple complex and interrelated application development, deployment, and testing efforts. Experience working within Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud-native development environments. Strong experience designing and supporting cloud-native solutions on AWS, including services such as EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and VPC networking, with a focus on scalability, security, and automation. Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar technologies. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or equivalent tools. Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes-based platforms. Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, monitoring, logging, and operational best practices. Experience supporting highly available and resilient cloud environments. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of tax processing, tax compliance systems, case management solutions, and taxpayer data environments. Experience supporting IRS, Federal Government, or other public-sector IT programs. Familiarity with NIST, FedRAMP, IRS Publication 1075, and related security and compliance requirements.
