The client is utilizing a contract engagement model to support an accelerated onboarding timeline and faster hiring process. PostgreSQL DBA Capstone IT is helping our client to find a PostgreSQL Database Administrator who will support internal application development teams in a heavily on-premises Linux environment. This role focuses on PostgreSQL administration, ticket-based operational support, database maintenance, performance tuning, backups, restores, migrations, and major PostgreSQL version upgrades from PostgreSQL 9 to PostgreSQL 16. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in command-line PostgreSQL administration, works independently, communicates effectively with stakeholders, and has strong experience supporting production database environments. Linux Command Line Administration PostgreSQL Upgrades, Migrations, and Performance Tuning SQL Development (DDL, DML, Query Optimization) Responsibilities Provide day-to-day PostgreSQL support for development teams Manage and resolve PostgreSQL-related support tickets Perform PostgreSQL 9 to PostgreSQL 16 upgrades Administer PostgreSQL databases in Linux environments Execute backups, restores, and recovery operations Monitor and optimize database performance Perform vacuuming, patching, and maintenance tasks Handle database migrations and data movement Write and troubleshoot SQL, DDL, and DML Communicate updates and resolutions to stakeholders Work independently with minimal supervision Qualifications Required Strong PostgreSQL administration experience in on-prem environments Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and best practices Experience with backups, restores, performance tuning, and upgrades Strong SQL skills including DDL and DML Linux command-line expertise Strong communication and ticket management skills Ability to work independently Preferred YAML experience Puppet experience Shell/Bash scripting PostgreSQL major version upgrade experience Exposure to AWS and/or GCP Show more Show less
