Android Application Developer – Kotlin & Jetpack Compose Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA We are seeking an experienced Android Application Developer with a strong background in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to help design and build modern Android applications for next-generation connected devices. This role emphasizes rapid development, proof-of-concept creation, and delivering intuitive mobile experiences optimized for compact displays. The ideal candidate enjoys working on innovative products, thrives in fast-paced engineering environments, and collaborates effectively with software, embedded, UX, and systems engineering teams to bring new concepts from prototype to production. Primary Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Rapidly prototype new application concepts and minimum viable products (MVPs) to validate ideas. Develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces optimized for smaller form-factor devices. Work closely with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and embedded software teams throughout the development lifecycle. Convert functional requirements into scalable, maintainable Android solutions. Optimize applications for performance, responsiveness, and reliability. Participate in technical design reviews, peer code reviews, and architecture discussions. Troubleshoot software defects and resolve application performance issues. Write clean, modular, well-documented code that follows Android development best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5+ of professional Android application development experience. Strong hands-on expertise with: Kotlin Jetpack Compose Experience delivering Android applications from concept through deployment. Background developing rapid prototypes or proof-of-concept applications. Strong understanding of mobile UI design principles, particularly for compact displays. Experience using Git or similar version control systems. Preferred Experience Experience developing software for connected devices, IoT products, or embedded platforms. Familiarity with Android platform components, services, and application lifecycle management. Knowledge of application profiling, performance tuning, and memory optimization techniques. Experience supporting engineering consulting projects or working with multiple client teams. Familiarity with Agile development practices, including Scrum.
