Cybersecurity Engineer – AI & Emerging Technologies Pay Range: $60-70+/hour depending on experience Location: United Stated (Remote) Work Type: W2 6–12-month contract-to-hire Overview We are seeking a Cybersecurity AI Engineer with experience in AI and emerging technologies to support a growing initiative focused on securing and scaling AI across the enterprise. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and cybersecurity, helping bridge the gap between high-level security standards and real-world implementation. You will play a key role in shaping how AI tools (including copilots, models, and emerging platforms) are evaluated, secured, and deployed at scale. The environment is fast-moving and highly visible, with a mix of “build” work (creating standards and frameworks) and “run” work (supporting ongoing operations). This is an opportunity to help define how AI is safely adopted across a large enterprise environment. Responsibilities Perform threat modeling and risk analysis for AI systems, tools, and emerging technologies Evaluate new AI tools and platforms to determine security risks and enterprise fit Translate security requirements into practical engineering guidance and technical controls Help define and document standards for AI usage, governance, and implementation Partner with engineering and security teams to implement controls across AI solutions Contribute to automation initiatives, including policy-as-code and AI-driven risk scoring Provide guidance on secure usage of platforms such as Microsoft Copilot and related AI services Support both ongoing operational needs (“keep the lights on”) and long-term modernization efforts Collaborate across teams to bring consistency and structure to fragmented AI initiatives Assist in driving secure adoption strategies for enterprise AI capabilities Required Qualifications Experience in cybersecurity engineering (not purely policy or GRC-focused) Strong background in threat modeling and risk assessment Experience working within cloud environments and modern engineering stacks (Microsoft ecosystem preferred) Exposure to AI/ML or generative AI technologies and understanding of associated security risks Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into structured solutions and scalable standards Experience developing technical documentation, implementation guidance, or security standards Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, security, and business teams Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft AI ecosystem technologies, including Copilot and Azure AI Familiarity with policy-as-code, automation frameworks, or infrastructure-as-code concepts Exposure to AI governance initiatives or enterprise AI rollout strategies Experience building or scaling security standards across large organizations Understanding of secure AI adoption frameworks and emerging AI security best practices What You’ll Bring A builder mindset with the ability to operate in ambiguity Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills Passion for emerging technologies and secure innovation Ability to balance strategic initiatives with operational execution EEO Statement Brooksource is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), gender identity or gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, protected medical condition as defined by applicable state or local law, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws and ordinances.
