Cloud Engineer (Azure)

Job Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support enterprise Platform Engineering initiatives within a large-scale Azure Cloud environment. This role focuses on infrastructure automation, cloud platform support, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Azure cloud operations. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Azure, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, and cloud infrastructure troubleshooting. Core Responsibilities Build and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Azure DevOps Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines utilizing GitLab Runners Partner with application teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement platform enhancements Convert existing Azure DevOps pipelines into Terraform-based IaC pipelines Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Azure resources including: Azure Data Factory, Virtual Networks (VNETs), Route Tables, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Purview, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault (AKV), Azure Subscriptions Build and maintain custom virtual machine images using Packer Deploy and support Azure Windows and Linux Virtual Machines, Scale Sets, and Load Balancers Deploy and troubleshoot Azure App Services, Function Apps, and Automation Accounts Support production releases during non-business hours as needed Create and manage Jira tickets and ServiceNow change requests Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud platform performance and reliability Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Experience working with Azure cloud platforms in enterprise environments Strong understanding of networking concepts including: TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls, Routing Experience supporting large-scale hosting and cloud infrastructure environments Knowledge of cloud security best practices, authentication, authorization, and threat protection Understanding of distributed systems and cloud architecture Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues Strong communication and collaboration skills Microsoft Azure Terraform Azure DevOps (ADO) Ansible GitLab Runners Azure Virtual Machines Azure Image Services Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Kubernetes Docker GitLab Groovy Application Security Strong troubleshooting and support experience within Azure environments Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications in Azure Public Cloud Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) AWS cloud experience Experience with cloud migration projects Knowledge of DataDog monitoring tools Experience supporting highly regulated enterprise environments Python HashiCorp technologies Packer CI/CD automation Cloud platform migrations Multi-cloud environments Key Competencies & Behaviors Problem Solving & Troubleshooting Cross-Functional Collaboration Production Support Work Environment Location: San Francisco, CA Onsite Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $65.00 and $77.00 . Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
