Frontend Engineer (React Native)

Onyx is building the consumer trading platform for the speculation economy—bringing prediction markets, sports, crypto, and real-world events into one seamless experience. Following our Series A led by Payward, we're growing the engineering team building a real-time, consumer-first trading platform. We're looking for a Frontend Engineer (React Native) to help build and scale the mobile experience used by thousands of users. This is a high-impact opportunity to own product features from concept through production while helping define the future of our mobile platform. What You'll Do Build high-quality mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript Develop intuitive, performant user experiences across iOS and Android Own features from technical design through development, testing, deployment, and monitoring Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and services running in AWS Optimize application performance, responsiveness, reliability, and scalability Build real-time user experiences powered by live data and streaming updates Create reusable components, design systems, and scalable frontend architecture Work closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, and Infrastructure to deliver new features Debug production issues and continuously improve the customer experience Contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD workflows What We're Looking For 2+ years of professional software engineering experience Strong experience building applications with React Native and TypeScript Experience shipping consumer-facing mobile applications to the App Store and/or Google Play Solid understanding of mobile architecture, state management, testing, debugging, and performance optimization Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and cloud-based services (AWS preferred) Strong product intuition and attention to detail with a focus on polished user experiences Comfortable owning features end-to-end in a fast-moving startup environment Experience with animations, WebSockets, real-time data, payments, sports, gaming, fintech, trading platforms, or other highly interactive consumer products is a plus Experience with native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin) development is a plus, but not required Logistics Location: NoHo, New York City Schedule: Hybrid Compensation: $150,000–$200,000 total cash compensation, plus equity Experience: 2+ years Work Authorization: Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
