Backend Developer

Job Overview Harbor.ai is hiring a Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the systems and APIs that power our insurance technology platform. This is a hands-on backend engineering role for someone who wants to build production infrastructure that supports real transaction volume in a fast-growing InsurTech company. You'll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver backend solutions that are fast, reliable, and built to scale. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience building production backend systems Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience Experience building microservices in a modern backend language Experience working with both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases Demonstrated expertise deploying and scaling applications on a major cloud platform Hands-on experience containerizing applications and working with container orchestration tools Track record designing, shipping, and supporting API-driven architectures Proficiency building automated deployment pipelines and continuous integration (CI/CD) workflows Preferred Qualifications Background architecting multi-service systems and distributed architectures Familiarity with serverless computing patterns and event-driven design Experience working with large-scale data pipelines or high-throughput systems Responsibilities Architect and develop scalable backend services and service-oriented architectures Own the full lifecycle of REST APIs serving both internal teams and external partners Own production incidents end-to-end, from detection through root cause analysis, remediation, and prevention Build and evolve deployment automation, including pipeline design and release strategies Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the application and data layers Author clear technical specifications and maintain up-to-date system documentation Why Join Harbor.ai Join a venture-backed InsurTech startup at the forefront of transforming enterprise insurance technology.
