JOB DESCRIPTIONMidland Transport is currently seeking a Technical Trainer - Red Seal Mechanic at our Moncton or Brampton Maintenance Facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs that equip mechanics and maintenance personnel with the mechanical knowledge, safety practices and diagnostic skills needed to effectively maintain and repair Midland's fleet of heavy?duty trucks and trailers.The Work Schedule: Primarily Day Shift - Monday to FridayWith flexibility to work evenings as needed to accommodate Evening Technicians.Benefits To Joining Midland: A dynamic, safe, and rewarding work environmentA flexible health, drug, dental, and vision planRRSP matching programEmployee & Family Assistance ProgramsHealth & Wellness reimbursements, includes gym memberships, fitness classes or online workout programs3 weeks' paid vacationMaternity leave top-up programGrowth and progression opportunities within Midland Transport and large network of the JD Irving group of companiesRESPONSIBILITIESDevelop, update, and maintain training programs covering mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair proceduresCreate hands-on training plans for new hires and apprentices, including preparation for Red Seal certificationDeliver engaging classroom and shop?floor training sessions on engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, and other mechanical systemsProvide refresher and upskilling training for experienced techniciansEnsure all training materials meet OEM standards, safety regulations, and company policiesMaintain accurate training records, including completion tracking and competency assessmentsMentor apprentices and junior mechanics, supporting their learning, development, and certification pathwaysPartner with shop supervisors to identify skill gaps and recommend targeted training solutionsEvaluate training effectiveness through feedback, performance metrics, and post?training assessments, including recommendations for technician skill?level and salary progressionContinuously improve training programs based on industry trends, best practices, and internal feedbackAbility to travel regularly to all Midland Garages to meet with Technicians and support training plan is required for this roleQUALIFICATIONSTrade Certification or College DiplomaMinimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a training or mentorship roleRed Seal Certification in Truck & Transport or Heavy-Duty Mechanics preferredStrong communication and instructional skillsProficiency in diagnostic tools (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit Diagnostic Link)Familiarity with fleet management and shop softwareAbility to interpret technical manuals and schematicsKnowledge of various software such as Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel would be an assetAbility to facilitate in-class training sessions with groups of techniciansWilling to Travel within Canada and States for as required for training or attending trade showsABOUT USFounded in 1882, J.D.
