AI Platform Engineer
Description
About Ode. Ode is a technology studio that works where the stakes are highest. Our clients are scientists tracking emissions, journalists investigating environmental harm, and nonprofits protecting ecosystems -organizations like ClimateTRACE, WWF, the UN, and Reuters. We bring them the data, AI, and design capabilities that have historically been out of reach. The Role. We’re hiring a platform engineer to own the infrastructure that ships every project. Most client engagements are 0-to-1 builds. You’ll implement the cloud infrastructure, deployment patterns, and AI ops that get them to production and carry what you learn back into reusable IaC modules and standardized CI/CD pipelines that make the next project faster and more reliable. We are a small team, which means your scope is wide. We’re looking for someone with a platform focus and full-stack experience who can also contribute application code, debug across the stack, and work directly alongside engineers building models and data pipelines. You'll also work directly with clients to understand their needs in terms of reliability, maintainability, and cost -- and hand off our work smoothly. What you'll do. Design and implement cloud infrastructure via IaC across client-specific environments (AWS, GCP, and others as needed) Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines standardized across projects Implement observability across infrastructure and AI systems: monitoring, logging, alerting, and guardrails for LLM-powered features, RAG pipelines, and fine-tuned models Implement security, secrets management, and compliance patterns reusable across projects Run evaluation pipelines and surface results to the AI engineering team: flag regressions and degradation in model behavior, cost, and latency Maintain a shared registry of models, datasets, and data sources across projects — versioned, documented, and accessible to the team Contribute application code and debug across the stack when the team needs it Monitor and minimize costs of infrastructure and model inference Identify opportunities to templatize infrastructure patterns for reuse across projects Train engineers and clients to operate the platforms and infrastructure you deliver, and document for handoffI am one dozen. You are a fit if you.... Can architect a system from scratch when the problem isn’t fully defined, and see it through to public release Know what is good enough for a prototype vs. an MVP vs. a product that scales—and have experience with all three Have built real evaluation suites for AI/ML systems Find reliability, monitoring, and evals interesting rather than an afterthought Have experience on small teams with broad responsibility Collaborate well with people across disciplines and organizations Want your work to do something that matters What working at Ode is like. We're a small team by design, which means you'll work closely with partners, designers, data scientists, and engineers as genuine collaborators on the same problem. The work spans disciplines in ways that most studios don't attempt: data, AI, design, and environmental domain expertise all in the same room. You'll see your decisions in production quickly and talk directly to the people using what you build. The problems are genuinely hard and the clients are doing work that matters. How we hire. We hire on what you've built. Whether you have formal credentials, are self-taught, or changed careers - if this role resonates and you have the work to show for it, we want to hear from you. Unusual paths are welcome here! How to apply. Email your resume and a short note on a project you're proud of to info@ode.partners.
