Android Software Engineer San Francisco (Remote) Build the Future of AI Assistants We're looking for an Android Software Engineer to build the mobile experience that brings this vision to life. The Opportunity This isn't a typical mobile role where the app is simply a front end. You'll own how AI feels, behaves and performs on Android, building production-ready experiences that users depend on every day. From streaming AI conversations and voice interactions to intelligent recommendations and long-running workflows, you'll help define what an AI-native mobile experience should be. What You'll Be Doing Build and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin Develop AI-powered experiences including chat, voice, vision and intelligent recommendations Design seamless user experiences for streaming responses, retries and long-running AI interactions Optimise application performance, responsiveness, memory usage and battery efficiency Collaborate with backend and machine learning engineers to shape APIs and product behaviour Implement analytics, monitoring and feedback mechanisms to continuously improve AI performance Deliver secure, scalable and reliable production applications What We're Looking For 3+ years of Android development experience using Kotlin Experience integrating AI capabilities such as LLMs, vision or speech APIs Strong knowledge of Coroutines, Flow and asynchronous programming Experience working with REST or gRPC APIs Excellent debugging, profiling and performance optimisation skills Experience building resilient applications that handle latency, partial failures and unpredictable responses gracefully Bonus points if you have experience with: ML Kit or TensorFlow Lite On-device machine learning Applications published to the Google Play Store
