AWS Cloud Platform Engineer / Systems Engineer Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid) Job Type: Contract W2 Only Experience: 10+ Years Onsite Interview is required Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to design, implement, automate, and support enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure on AWS. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AWS Platform Engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps automation, and Kubernetes. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to lead cloud transformation initiatives and mentor engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure. Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and CDK . Develop automation using Python, Bash, and Ansible . Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and related DevOps tools. Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) . Implement cloud security, networking, IAM, monitoring, logging, and governance best practices. Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives to AWS. Improve system reliability, scalability, availability, and operational efficiency through SRE principles. Monitor production environments and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues. Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver cloud-native solutions. Mentor engineering teams and promote DevOps and cloud engineering best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of overall IT experience. Minimum 5 years of hands-on AWS Cloud Platform Engineering and Administration. 3-5 years of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience. Strong hands-on experience with: AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, EKS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Direct Connect, ELB) Terraform AWS CloudFormation & CDK Python (including Boto3) Linux Administration & Bash Scripting Kubernetes / Amazon EKS Ansible Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Experience with cloud networking, security, automation, and platform engineering. Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and cloud-native architecture. Experience leading enterprise cloud transformation initiatives. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Minimum one AWS Certification is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Docker, ECS, Service Mesh, and container security tools. Exposure to AWS AI/ML services including Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Kendra, and RAG solutions . Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, AppDynamics, or Jaeger. FinOps Certification is a plus. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
