Senior Backend Engineer TypeScript | Node.js | Product Development | Hybrid | Chicago Area Location: Greater Chicago Area (Hybrid) Compensation: Approximately $130,000+ base salary plus profit sharing, salary based on experience Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work full time in the United States. This isn't one of them. We're partnering with an established global technology company that designs sophisticated products used by professionals around the world. They're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who understands how backend software becomes part of the product itself, powering communication between cloud services, connected devices, middleware, and embedded technologies. Success in this role comes from building software that enables products to perform reliably in the field, not simply supporting internal business operations. What You'll Do Develop backend platforms using TypeScript and Node.js Design and build REST and GraphQL APIs Create scalable middleware that enables communication between cloud services and connected products Develop cloud native solutions within AWS Contribute to distributed systems architecture and platform design Improve software performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability Participate in architecture discussions and technical design decisions Collaborate with cross functional engineering teams building products used around the world What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or another technical discipline Five or more years of professional software engineering back-end experience Strong backend development experience using TypeScript and Node.js within product based engineering organizations, not SaaS Experience developing backend software that is part of a commercial product platform rather than primarily internal business applications or enterprise software Experience building APIs, middleware, distributed services, and communication layers that support connected products, devices, or hardware integrated systems Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event driven architecture, and reactive systems Experience working within AWS cloud environments Strong understanding of software architecture, testing methodologies, CI/CD, and version control Demonstrated career progression with strong tenure in full-time engineering positions. This role is best suited for engineers who have built long term impact within product organizations rather than career consultants or short-term contract engagements.
