Backend Founding Engineer

A start up is looking for a Backend Founding Engineer to join their team. Location: NYC; Must be able to work in NYC 4 days onsite per week Compensation: $180-230k + Equity Must have worked at early stage start-ups! US Citizens/GC Holders; no C2C/3rd parties Responsibilities: Independently communicate with Customer Support to investigate and resolve customer-reported issues Design database schemas and APIs for small-to-medium scoped features Implement features following internal engineering principles and guidelines Provide estimates for their own work and communicate progress and risks proactively to the team Qualifications: Deep experience with and understanding of: JavaScript (5+ years) Node.js (5+ years) Express.js framework (2+ years) APIs (5+ years)/Building fintech backend APIs (1+ years) Databases (PostGreSQL) (2+ years) Architecture (2+ years) Fintech web applications (1+ years) Ability to see challenges as opportunities to level up, high-achieving and goal-oriented A collaborative spirit and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, highly collaborative and transparent in your work, output, and decision making Passion for creative thinking and bold ideas for growing the business/enhancing customer experience Expert time management and organizational skills
