THE ROLE As a Mess (Kitchen) Manager, you provide an excellent customer experience in our military messes. During big events to every day moments, you will build a rapport with the military community while utilizing your operational and hospitality experience. Military messes are places where Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members come together to socialize and foster morale. The Mess (Kitchen) Manager will ensure smooth operation of the messes? activities and operations, including bar operations and food services, while adhering to strict requirements for health, hygiene and safety. You will manage the scheduling, training and performance of employees. You will develop operations budgets, business plans and monitor and report on all expenses. This is a role where everyone works as one team to provide the best customer experience for our members and contributes in creating a positive workplace. QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses College diploma or certificate in hospitality, food service management, or a related field AND some years of experience in hospitality or food and beverage service sector Ontario Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required Experience In coordinating hospitality services including bar operations In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation In coordinating banquets and functions In inventory and bar management In negotiating service contracts In preparing marketing strategies In managing facilities In budget administration In managing a full service kitchen In personnel administration In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing Competencies Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
