Business Analyst / Product Owner (BA/PO) — Job Description (Concorde) Role Summary The Business Analyst / Product Owner (BA/PO) is responsible for translating business and operational needs into structured, actionable work for delivery teams . This role acts as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, operations, and delivery teams , ensuring that initiatives are clearly defined, properly sequenced, and aligned to enterprise priorities. At Concorde, the BA/PO is not just a requirements writer—they are a value translator and delivery enabler , ensuring that every initiative produces measurable operational, compliance, and customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Definition & Business Analysis Elicit, analyze, and document business, operational, and regulatory requirements Translate high-level initiative goals into: Clear scope definitions Functional and process requirements Detailed user scenarios and workflows Ensure requirements account for: Compliance obligations (DOT, OSHA, etc.) Operational realities (24/7 testing, field collections, client workflows) Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Backlog Ownership & Prioritization Own and manage the team-level backlog (features, epics, user work items) Break down initiatives into prioritized, executable work Ensure backlog items are: Clearly defined Testable Aligned to business outcomes Partner with leadership to maintain priority alignment with enterprise sequencing
- Initiative Translation & Execution Readiness Convert enterprise initiatives into delivery-ready work packages Ensure clarity on: Scope boundaries Dependencies Risks and assumptions Prepare initiatives for execution by: Structuring work for planning cycles Confirming stakeholder alignment Ensuring readiness for delivery teams
- Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and delivery teams Facilitate working sessions to: Clarify requirements Resolve ambiguities Align expectations Ensure all parties maintain a shared understanding of: What is being delivered Why it matters How success is measured
- Acceptance Criteria & Quality Assurance Define clear acceptance criteria for all work items Ensure delivery outputs meet: Business expectations Operational usability Compliance requirements Support validation and testing efforts to confirm outcomes meet defined criteria
- Planning Support & Execution Alignment Support planning cycles by: Preparing refined backlog items Identifying dependencies and sequencing needs Participating in planning and commitment discussions Ensure work entering delivery is: Well-defined Properly sized Feasible within planning timelines
- Operational & Compliance Awareness Ensure all solutions are aligned with: Regulatory standards (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA) Chain-of-custody integrity and testing workflows Embed compliance considerations into requirements—not as an afterthought
- Continuous Improvement & Feedback Integration Gather feedback from: Operations teams Clients End users Continuously refine backlog items and requirements based on: Operational insights Delivery performance Changing business conditions Scope of Authority Owns requirements clarity and backlog integrity Does not set enterprise strategy, but ensures execution aligns to it Accountable for ensuring delivery teams have clear, actionable work Success Measures Success in this role is defined by: High-quality, clear and actionable requirements Strong alignment between business intent and delivered outcomes Minimal rework due to ambiguity or misunderstanding Delivery teams operating with clarity, speed, and predictability Stakeholders confident that what is delivered meets real needs Required Skills & Experience Core Competencies Strong business analysis and requirements elicitation Agile backlog management and prioritization Process mapping and workflow design Stakeholder facilitation and communication Analytical thinking with attention to detail Domain Alignment (Concorde-Specific) Experience in regulated or operational environments preferred: Drug & alcohol testing programs Occupational health services Background screening or compliance workflows Ability to understand: Multi-location service delivery Client-specific program customization High-reliability, high-compliance operations Tools & Platforms Jira (backlog and work management) Process mapping tools Collaboration and documentation platforms Behavioral Expectations Think in terms of outcomes, not just requirements Push for clarity—do not allow ambiguity into execution Balance detail with speed (avoid over-engineering) Communicate directly and proactively Maintain strong accountability for work quality
