Early mobilization, appropriate exercise prescription and discharge planning are essential elements of this position. The Clinical Physiotherapist I is an integral member of the health care team and is responsible for timely communication and documentation of relevant patient information. Participation in quality activities of the Program and the profession within NL Health Services that contribute to a Healthy Workplace and a safe environment for patients and staff is expected. Weekend coverage and/or on-call service is required on a rotational basis. Supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers is an expectation. The PT will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NL Health Services. Clinical mentorship and consultation are provided by the Physiotherapist III for the orthopedic service, as well as the Physiotherapist III for inpatients at this site. Job QualificationsGraduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy Program is required.Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapist (NLCP) is required.Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.Ability to direct, supervise and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an inter-professional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
