This role is accountable for delivering the project safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Company quality standards, project specifications, applicable legislation, and contractual requirements. The Site Superintendent oversees all on-site construction operations, including trade coordination, scheduling, health and safety compliance, quality control, site logistics, and communication between the field and project team. Responsibilities Field Leadership & Execution * Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities throughout the project lifecycle. * Supervise, mentor, and support onsite personnel. * Coordinate and execute all phases of construction, including structural work, building envelope, interior finishes, and project close-out. * Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, building codes, and Company standards. * Manage site logistics, including access, material storage, deliveries, and site organization. * Coordinate equipment rentals and maintain inventory of site tools and equipment. Schedule & Production Management * Work collaboratively with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and achieve the project schedule. * Drive daily and weekly production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards. * Coordinate sequencing of trades to maximize productivity and minimize disruptions. * Identify schedule risks, delays, and constraints, and implement recovery plans where required. * Monitor workforce productivity and adjust resources as necessary. Trade & Subcontractor Management * Coordinate and supervise all subcontractors, suppliers, and trades working on-site. * Lead regular trade coordination meetings to review project progress and upcoming activities. * Ensure subcontractors meet contractual obligations, staffing commitments, and project schedules. * Enforce Company site rules, quality expectations, and safety requirements. * Resolve on-site conflicts and escalate issues to the Project Manager when appropriate. Health & Safety Leadership * Promote and maintain a proactive, zero-incident safety culture. * Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Company safety policies, and project-specific safety plans. * Conduct regular site inspections, safety meetings, and hazard assessments. * Monitor high-risk work activities and ensure appropriate controls are implemented. * Verify that all workers maintain required training, certifications, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Quality Control * Implement and maintain project quality control processes. * Perform regular inspections to verify workmanship meets project specifications and Company standards. * Identify deficiencies and ensure timely completion of corrective work. * Support project commissioning, inspections, occupancy readiness, and final turnover activities. Budget & Cost Management * Monitor productivity and support efficient use of labour and resources. * Identify potential cost impacts resulting from delays, rework, or site conditions. * Promote efficient construction practices that minimize waste and rework. * Assist the Project Manager in achieving project budget objectives.
