Reporting to Manager, Capital Accounting, you will be responsible for monitoring the financial performance of the Large Capital Projects group and providing reliable and timely information and analysis to key stakeholders in both Operations and Finance. Key elements of this role include:As a Cost Analyst you will be responsible forProving accounting for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closes, which includes preparing required journal entries and analyzing project accrualsCreating capital project estimates and documentation to support Forecast and Budgeting cyclesPreparing detailed variance analysis for Capital Projects, comparing results to Budgets and Forecasts Preparing monthly reconciliationsPerforming projects tasks with overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlinesAd-hoc projects and analysis, as required These skills will make you successful:To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:As the ideal candidate, you have a recognized Accounting/Business Certificate or degree, and a minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience You have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Excel and are comfortable using accounting softwareYou have strong organizational skills, communication skills, are detailed oriented, and are comfortable working to deadlinesCommitment to personal and professional growth; support is available for employees pursuing their CPA designation Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving Learn more about our culture and valuesAt the Emera Group of Companies, you'll be part of an inclusive, respectful workplace where everyone is welcomed and supported.
