Jag Virk Law Professional Corporation is a successful criminal defence law firm. We are looking to add a criminal lawyer to our team! Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and committed Associate Lawyer with a minimum of two (2) years of criminal trial experience to join our growing defence practice. The ideal candidate has a strong courtroom presence, a passion for advocacy, and the ability to independently manage a varied caseload from intake to trial. Responsibilities * Handle a broad range of criminal files at all stages, from bail to trial and sentencing * Represent clients at various court levels, including Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court * Conduct legal research, draft Charter applications, submissions etc * Maintain regular client communication and manage expectations * Work collaboratively with other counsel and legal support staff * Participate in firm meetings and ongoing professional development Qualifications * Member in good standing with law society * Minimum 2 years of experience practicing criminal law, with demonstrated trial experience * Strong oral and written advocacy skills * Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload independently * Ability to assess files critically and provide strategic advice * Experience with legal aid files and managing clients with complex needs is an asset * Multilingual candidates or those with experience in mental health or youth court are encouraged to apply Compensation based on experience: $80,000 - $200,000 Hybrid + Option to work from home some days of the week.
