Cyber Security Analyst

The State of North Dakota is looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst to join our Cyber Analysis and Response team to assist with the development of one of the world’s most advanced Cyber Operations Centers. As a part of the State of ND’s Information Security Division, you will work on a team that provides continuous monitoring, incident response, digital forensics, malware analysis, and threat hunting services to the State of North Dakota and its customers. Candidates for this position must live anywhere in North Dakota or a border community (Moorhead, MN, East Grand Forks, MN, etc). As a Cybersecurity Analyst you will: Be responsible for the detection, triage, and investigation of security events. Serve as an incident handler to identify, investigate, mitigate, and respond to cybersecurity events and incidents impacting the network or endpoints. Document evidence collected, actions taken during the incident response process, and write incident reports for management, incident stakeholders, and to facilitate lessons learned. You will have the opportunity to be involved in use case development, digital forensics, threat hunting, and malware analysis. Participate in tabletops, cyber ranges, and purple team exercises to improve your skills, develop a cooperative mindset, and enhance information sharing within the team. Promote the continuous improvement of the capabilities of the Cyber Operations Center and advance the security posture of the State of North Dakota. To be considered for the Cybersecurity Analyst role, you must have completed an apprenticeship, a collegiate level cybersecurity certification program, or have four (4) years of current and progressive work experience with computer system security activities. Additional formal education experience may be substituted for the professional work experience year requirement on a year for year basis. Security certifications from a qualified vendor, such as SANS, ISC2, ISACA, CompTIA or EC Council, may be substituted for up to one year of experience. Location Requirement: Candidates for this position must live anywhere in North Dakota or a border community (Moorhead, MN, East Grand Forks, ND, etc). If selected candidate lives within a 50 miles radius of NDIT offices in Bismarck or Fargo, North Dakota they will work on site one day a week. Otherwise, this position will work remotely full time.
