The Function At Ategrity data, a product in its own right - is the foundation on which our aspiration to be a knowledge-rich organization is based. Data engineering and delivery has end-to-end responsibility for delivering on data strategy and building out our target data landscape including data model and architecture, ETL process and tools, data warehouses, governance policies, and access points such as data self-services. They work with the business to ensure that all critical data is collected across the submission, quote, bind, claims journey, and work with other departments in our IT team to ensure that data is extracted and pipelined from systems of records. The Role The data engineer will build ETL processes primarily sourced from internal systems, sometimes supplementing with vendor and public data. Large projects may be coordinated with a project manager, but generally they will work with vendors and various business functions directly to gather requirements. The product will be data that is high quality in its completeness, usability, and accuracy. An ideal candidate will bring curiosity, a passion for data, and a deep understanding of the technologies behind data pipelines, warehousing. Experience engineering P&C insurance data is required. The position will report to the Head of Data and is part of the IT team. Responsibilities Ensure that data is dependable and high quality and that we’re collecting the right data to enable strategic analysis, measurement, and decision making. Design, build, and scale data pipelines to extract, load, and transform data from a wide variety of data sources Provide documentation, descriptions, and flow diagrams, ensuring any changes to the business rules on master data are documented and communicated effectively. Work closely with finance and actuarial to ensure they have accurate data for financial and regulatory reporting. Troubleshoot automation failures and data issues, and recommend new data integrity checks. Deliver data via Power BI reporting suite and Excel. Technical Qualifications/Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related field. Deep knowledge of programming languages and tools (e.g., SQL, SSIS, Power BI, Excel, VBA) Experience in data management technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, advanced SQL coding, relational database design, data warehousing) 2+ years of experience creating deployment pipelines in Azure, Python/SQL or similar programming languages 3+ years of experience using SSIS or similar ETL tools Experience monitoring the health of data and pipelines using various tools and techniques including open-source monitoring tools, custom dashboards and cloud pipeline monitoring
