About The Role The Data Engineer - Junior position is a vital role within our Data & Analytics team, supporting the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure that enable advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions for the Capability Development & Integration (CD&I) division. This role involves ingesting, transforming, and preparing data from multiple USMC and DoD systems to facilitate insights for analysts, data scientists, and operational stakeholders. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior data engineers, contributing to the creation of reliable, secure, and efficient data workflows that support critical defense missions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field 0-3 years of experience in data engineering, database development, or a related technical role Basic experience with SQL and at least one programming or scripting language such as Python Familiarity with relational databases, including concepts like tables, views, indices, and joins Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adhere to established engineering standards and practices Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance Responsibilities Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into analytic data stores Implement basic data quality checks, validation routines, and data cleansing processes to ensure data integrity Support the integration of structured and semi-structured data sources relevant to capability development and experimentation Collaborate with senior data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical tasks Contribute to the documentation of data flows, schemas, and data dictionaries for system transparency and maintenance Implement basic data security and access controls in accordance with DoD/USMC policies and best practices Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and support ongoing operations and maintenance activities to ensure continuous data availability Benefits Competitive salary range of USD $110,000 to USD $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience Comprehensive healthcare benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid leave and holidays to support work-life balance Retirement plans and insurance programs to secure your financial future Education and training opportunities to foster professional growth and skill development Equal Opportunity American Systems is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
