Database Administrator

We're working with a direct client seeking top talent for a challenging long-term contract opportunity. This technology-driven organisation is seeking a skilled professional to join their team and contribute to mission-critical operations. The Role Lead SQL Server administration, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, security, monitoring, maintenance, and data archival across Azure and AWS. Design, implement, and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Change Data Capture). Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues related to performance, capacity, connectivity, and reliability. Develop and maintain automation to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency. Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders on database design, deployment, performance tuning, and optimization. Ensure adherence to GBS standards, security requirements, and business needs for database servers and databases. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide off-hours support for critical incident resolution. What You'll Need 8–10+ years of expert-level SQL Server administration experience. Hands-on experience implementing and supporting SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including cloud-based backup and recovery strategies in Azure. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for complex performance bottlenecks and system failures. Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, GitHub, and Azure DevOps or other CI/CD tools for automation, monitoring, and reporting. Ability to support mission-critical, 24x7 production environments. Experience with infrastructure as code, automation frameworks, and modern DevOps practices is a plus. What's On Offer Opportunity to work on a 12-month contract with a direct customer.
