Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server) MUST be local to Phoenix, AZ OR Marietta, GA Maverick Search Partners is recruiting a Database Administrator on behalf of a national engineering and technical services firm. This is a direct-hire, full-time position supporting enterprise, mission-critical database environments. What you'll do Administer and optimize large SQL Server environments supporting high-volume production workloads Own high availability — AlwaysOn Availability Groups, failover clustering, replication, log shipping Build and test disaster recovery: backup strategy, restore validation, RTO/RPO targets Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, patching, upgrades, and migrations Implement enterprise security standards — encryption, auditing, role-based access control Support DFARS, ITAR, and similar compliance requirements Maintain runbooks and technical documentation Participate in an on-call rotation with escalation support for critical production issues What you'll bring 5+ years administering databases in an enterprise environment Deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise, including HA/DR architecture Advanced T-SQL and performance tuning Experience supporting 24x7 production systems Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders Must be a U.S. person as defined under ITAR Nice to have Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or other hybrid/cloud database experience PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform automation Data warehousing or large-scale reporting environments DP-300, OCP, or AWS Database Specialty certification Why this role Established, stable organization with a genuinely collegial culture.
