Contract Dentist – Correctional Healthcare Location: Victoria, VA (On-Site) Job Type: Full-Time / Contract (4x10 Schedule, No Weekends) Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (With strong potential for extension/renewal) Position Overview We are seeking a skilled, resilient, and patient-focused Dentist to fulfill a 13-week contract engagement at a state correctional facility located in Victoria, VA. This position provides an exceptional opportunity to practice dental medicine and oral healthcare within a structured, highly secure, and collaborative inpatient clinic environment. Operating on a predictable daytime schedule, the incoming practitioner will deliver essential diagnostic, preventative, restorative, and surgical dental treatments. Compensation Options We offer highly competitive pay models tailored to your location and tax classification preference, alongside premium travel incentives for qualifying non-local clinicians: Local Compensation Rate: $130.00 per hour Travel Compensation Package: Premium customized travel pay packages Schedule & Work-Life Balance Schedule: 4x10 Work Week (Monday through Thursday, 10-hour daily shifts). Shift Availability: Day Shifts only. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive oral examinations, diagnostic assessments, and radiographic interpretations for the institutional resident population. Perform essential dental procedures, including local anesthesia administration, restorative fillings, simple and surgical extractions, and acute pain management. Formulate objective, individualized dental treatment plans while maintaining meticulous clinical documentation within the facility’s electronic health records (EHR). Collaborate effectively with on-site multidisciplinary staff, including dental assistants, clinic administrators, medical personnel, and correctional security officers to ensure a safe, efficient care environment. Qualifications & Requirements Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from an accredited dental school. Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or eligibility to quickly obtain a temporary institutional license). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification. Ability to successfully clear a comprehensive state background check, drug screening, and facility safety/security vetting. Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to safe, objective, and trauma-informed patient care within a secure setting.
