Summary VA Black Hills is seeking a Dentist for the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. The General Practice Dental Officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective - restorative - or preventive measures. Duties The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care - you will operate in a model with three core elements - seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to Honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being Functions of Assigned Duties: The General Dentistry dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services Specifically - the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following: Conducts oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and provide interpretation of imaging Reviews medical history and applies knowledge to patient management Diagnoses pathological or irregular oral conditions Performs treatment planning - including multi-step - complex plans with input from specialists as needed Administers local anesthesia and nitrous oxide Performs routine and complex restoration of teeth Performs routine extractions and other surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist Performs prosthetic dentist to include immediate dentures - full and partial dentures - crowns and fixed bridge work Performs routine dental implant restorations Performs routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth Performs routine periodontal procedures VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30am - 4:00pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
