We envision a bright future in Coquitlam that we hope includes you!About You / What We Are Looking ForAn exciting opportunity is available for an Evidence Custodial Lead to join the Police Services Division in a key role supporting the integrity and security of police evidence management. This position involves clerical, manual, and custodial work with limited supervisory responsibilities in the management of police evidence and property. The successful candidate plans, coordinates, assigns, supervises, and participates in the daily operations of the Evidence Unit, ensuring the secure receipt, storage, release, transport, and disposal of criminal, drug, seized, stolen, found, and other property evidence. The role also oversees the preparation and maintenance of accurate files, records, reports, and inventories. Working with minimal supervision, the incumbent exercises sound judgment and initiative while ensuring the integrity, security, and controlled movement of all evidence in accordance with established policies, procedures, and legal requirements.Minimum Qualifications All the knowledge, abilities and skills required of an Evidence Custodian. Ability to plan, lead, assign, oversee and participate in the work of a group of subordinates. Ability to handle and count large sums of money of different currencies - Canadian, USD and Foreign. Ability to develop schedules, procedures and documentation related to the work. Ability to serve as contact on the escalation of problems and ensure adequate response times. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia. Firearms Safety Course Certification - Restricted and Unrestricted. Occupational First Aid - Level 1. Naloxone Nasal Spray Administration Certification (Red Cross or equivalent). Safe Handling Procedures for High Potency Drugs Certification.Preferred QualificationsCompletion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus sound related experience as an Evidence Custodian; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.What We Offer:This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $35.84 - $42.16 per hour (2025 rates).
