Executive Vice President - Engineering & Technology
Description
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY Primavolt Energy Infrastructure Services designs, delivers, and operates behind-the-meter and utility-scale power infrastructure — gas turbine generation, battery energy storage (BESS), and solar PV — for hyperscale data centers and large-scale energy users demanding firm, dispatchable power across the U.S. SUMMARY The EVP of Engineering & Technology is Primavolt's senior-most technical executive, responsible for the engineering strategy, organizational performance, and technical market positioning of the company across all behind-the-meter power, gas turbine, BESS, and solar PV programs. This leader owns the engineering function end-to-end — from power systems architecture and equipment selection through construction support and commissioning — and directly oversees the VP of Engineering and all engineering leadership. The role sits at the intersection of technical execution and commercial strategy: shaping Primavolt's OEM relationships, technology roadmap, and project delivery model in response to real-time grid dynamics, interconnection constraints, and the accelerating power demands of AI-driven data center infrastructure. Reports to the President & CEO and serves as a core member of the senior executive leadership team. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES • Define and drive Primavolt's long-range engineering and technology strategy across aeroderivative gas turbine combined-cycle and simple-cycle configurations, LFP-based grid-scale BESS, utility-scale solar PV, and emissions compliance systems (SCR, oxidation catalyst, CEMS), other early technologies in the market • Provide executive oversight of the engineering and technical team, with full accountability for organizational structure, headcount planning, and senior technical talent development • Own the engineering P&L and operating budget; report on project technical risk, cost performance, and technology investment ROI to the President & CEO and board • Lead evaluation and adoption of next-generation turbine control platforms, BESS management systems (BMS/EMS), power electronics, and digital engineering tools (BIM, power flow modeling, relay coordination) to maintain a competitive edge in the mid-scale market • Direct technical due diligence on project acquisitions, OEM partnerships, and supply chain arrangements — including power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination), interconnection assessments (ERCOT, MISO, PJM, WECC), and equipment lifecycle analysis • Serve as Primavolt's senior technical representative with hyperscale data center clients, PE sponsors, OEM partners (GE Vernova, Siemens, CATL, BYD, SMA), and standards bodies (NERC, IEEE, NFPA 70) • Establish and continuously improve engineering standards and QA/QC systems across disciplines: electrical (HV/MV switchgear, protection & control, power systems), mechanical (turbine systems, BOP, HRSG), civil/structural, and environmental • Align engineering and procurement strategy with commercial objectives — including OEM-agnostic sourcing decisions, long-lead equipment risk management, and technical input to EPC contract structures • Build and sustain a high-performance engineering culture rooted in technical excellence, safety leadership, and disciplined project execution • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline; M.S. or MBA preferred; PE license strongly preferred • 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in power generation or energy infrastructure, with deep hands-on expertise across aeroderivative gas turbines, grid-scale BESS, and/or utility-scale solar PV • 12+ years leading multi-level engineering organizations, including direct management of engineering directors and technical managers • Demonstrated executive-level experience with P&L or budget ownership and board-level reporting • Strong technical grounding in power systems engineering: protection and coordination, HV/MV switchgear, interconnection standards, NEC/NFPA 70E, NERC reliability standards, and SCR/emissions compliance • Hands-on familiarity with behind-the-meter power architecture for data center and critical facility clients — particularly in the 50–500 MW range • Experience leading technical due diligence for project acquisitions, OEM commercial arrangements, or EPC subcontractor qualification • Exceptional executive communication skills — able to translate complex technical risk into clear commercial and financial framing for investors, clients, and C-suite stakeholders • Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining high-caliber engineering talent in a competitive market Show more Show less
