Firewall Analyst

Position Overview Position focuses on day to day next-generation firewall administration, support, and operations. It also includes some project-oriented initiatives, troubleshooting incidents of varying severity, various compliance activities, and firewall policy optimization & maintenance. Candidates who have a network support or design background who wish to transition into a role in Cybersecurity are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities & Duties Firewall & Security Operations Policy Management: Perform day-to-day firewall policy administration, optimization, and maintenance. Infrastructure Care: Configure, install, maintain security hardware, and deploy code upgrades. Traffic Analysis: Analyze firewall security and traffic logs to balance customer requirements with robust security controls. Framework Maintenance: Uphold and maintain the security framework across the entire enterprise. Incident Response & Support Troubleshooting: Rapidly investigate and resolve service disruptions and security incidents of varying severity. On-Call & Availability: Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and provide increased availability during inclement weather, active cyber threats, or significant IT incidents. Change Management: Strictly adhere to established Change Management requirements and processes. Collaboration & Documentation Cross-Functional Partnership: Interact professionally with internal business partners and IT support groups to understand, apply, and enforce security requirements. Project Participation: Contribute to cybersecurity projects and initiatives across IT and other business units. Knowledge Sharing: Document all work performed, update security infrastructure strategies, and contribute regularly to the team knowledge base. Qualifications & Skills Technical Experience Firewall Administration: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls and/or Cisco ASA firewalls. Core Networking: Strong background in network administration/support within a large enterprise or Data Center environment. Protocols & Routing: Deep understanding of TCP/IP communications, NAT principles, and common network-level protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SMB). Analysis Tools: Experience with network monitoring, traffic analysis, and troubleshooting tools. Preferred Certifications While not all are required, holding one or more of the following is highly advantageous: Palo Alto: PCCET, PCNSA Cisco: CCNA, DevNet Associate CompTIA: Security+, Network+ Other relevant industry-recognized networking or security certifications.
