Fixed-Term WordPress Developer — Minneapolis, 5–8 Months

About the Role Alltroo is hiring a full-time Fixed-Term WordPress Developer for an initial 5–8 month engagement, with the possibility of extension or conversion based on business needs. This role will be based in our Minneapolis office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote. We are currently operating on WordPress while our engineering team focuses on building the next version of our platform in React. We need an experienced WordPress developer who can own the day-to-day technical needs of the current site, keep requests moving quickly, and help us maintain a stable, polished customer experience during the transition. This is not a greenfield rebuild role. It is a hands-on production support and improvement role for a live business where speed, judgment, collaboration, and stability matter. Responsibilities Own day-to-day WordPress development, updates, fixes, and site improvements Troubleshoot bugs, broken pages, plugin conflicts, checkout issues, performance issues, and other production problems Build and update pages, templates, forms, landing pages, campaign assets, and site content Support marketing, creative, operations, and leadership requests with fast turnaround Help maintain site stability, security, backups, plugin health, and overall site performance Work in company-owned repositories and follow agreed-upon version control, review, and deployment processes Coordinate closely with our internal team and external development agency so they can stay focused on the React rebuild Clearly document changes, technical decisions, known issues, and handoff notes Flag risks, blockers, and dependencies early before they become urgent production issues Improve and maintain the existing WordPress site without creating unnecessary technical debt or disrupting the future platform build Requirements Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development Experience with custom themes, plugins, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design Comfortable working in an existing production WordPress environment Strong experience using GitHub or similar version control tools in a professional development environment Comfortable working in company-owned repositories with clear branching, pull request, and code review practices Disciplined about staging, testing, approvals, and deployment processes before making changes to a live production site Understands the importance of access control, credential security, and keeping company code and data in company-managed systems Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to move quickly without breaking things Familiarity with ecommerce, checkout flows, memberships, subscriptions, donations, or campaign-based websites is a plus Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with a fast-moving team Highly collaborative and comfortable working alongside an internal team, outside agency, or parallel development team Ability to work productively without creating silos or territorial ownership over code Ability to work from our Minneapolis office Monday through Thursday Available full-time for an initial 5–8 month fixed-term role Engagement Details Full-time, 40 hours per week Initial 5–8 month fixed-term role Possible extension or conversion based on business needs Monday through Thursday in-office in Minneapolis Fridays remote Start as soon as possible Compensation and Benefits Compensation for this fixed-term role is $100,000–$120,000 annualized, depending on experience. What We’re Looking For We need someone who can be the reliable owner of our current WordPress site while our core engineering team builds the future platform. The right person is practical, responsive, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable improving an existing system without trying to turn it into a full rebuild. We are looking for someone who can keep the current site stable and moving without creating code silos, undocumented dependencies, or unnecessary friction with the team building the React platform. This role is ideal for a WordPress developer who enjoys solving real production problems, working closely with cross-functional teams, and helping a business move quickly while maintaining strong development discipline.
