Genetic Counseling Assistant / Clinical Research Assistant

Job Description The Cancer Genetics Program at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute is looking for a Genetic Counseling Assistant/Clinical Research Assistant who would like to be a part of a vibrant and growing clinical, research and educational environment. The position is based at the Zuckerberg Cancer Center in Lake Success, NY, though travel to other Northwell Health Cancer Institute sites in the metropolitan area will be required approximately 2-3 days/week . The successful candidate will join a team of nine adult cancer genetic counselors, an administrator, and two administrative assistants. In this position, you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary Cancer Genetics team, working with genetic counselors, physicians, administrators, patients and others. Your role will be a combination of serving as a genetic counseling assistant and a clinical research assistant. A major focus of this position is to support a streamlined point of care model for genetic testing in newly diagnosed cancer patients across the Northwell Health system. Day-to-day aspects will include assistance with triaging patients, completing family pedigrees, data analysis, presentation preparation, as well as volunteering to be a resource to others. Our expectation is to hire an individual who consistently strives to be an enthusiastic contributor to a collaborative team culture. Requires completion of bachelor's degree in a science discipline (e.g. biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or genetics). Pre-health students (specifically pre-genetic counseling students and pre-medical students) are preferred. Prior relevant experience is highly desired. Preferred commitment of 2 years.
