Vacancy for appointmentCommissioner of Official Languages for New BrunswickLegislative Assembly of New BrunswickThe Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages is mandated to promote the advancement of both official languages in New Brunswick. Additionally, the Office works to investigate, report on and make recommendations regarding compliance with the Official Languages Act.Appointed under the authority of the Official Languages Act, the Commissioner of Official Languages is an officer of the Legislative Assembly and is independent of the executive branch of government.Essential Qualifications:A demonstrated passion and respect for the preservation and promotion of New Brunswick's official languages.A post-secondary degree, preferably in the field of law or in a relevant discipline (e.g., public administration, finance, or accounting).Minimum of 10 years' work experience in one or a combination of the following:Administrative law and procedureExtensive interpretation of legislation, regulation and policyResolution of disputes of a sensitive and confidential nature using formal and informal conflict resolution approachesSenior management experience in a private or public sector organization, including managing financial and human resources.Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present on sensitive and frequently complex issues and organizational needs.Must be eligible to work in Canada.Subject to the response of this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
