Job Description Job Description Hiring-Experienced EWP Designer Join Adam Tools & Building Materials - Mississauga, ON Adam Tools is expanding, and we're looking for an Experienced EWP Designer to join our growing team. What You'll Do Their responsibilities include reading blueprints, developing EWP layouts and calculations, layout packages, and design files. Develop complete and accurate EWP takeoffs, layout packages, and design files. Design EWP floor systems, LVL beams, and supporting components for residential and light-commercial projects. Determine appropriate hardware, hangers, and connection details for each design. Partner with sales and production teams to provide technical guidance, resolve issues, and support quoting. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers - including phone support, site visits, and conversations with framers, builders, architects, and inspectors. Visit job sites as needed to review conditions, verify measurements, or troubleshoot installation challenges. Optimize designs to balance structural performance, constructability, and material cost. collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure designs are structurally sound and comply with building codes and safety standards. What You Bring Technical Knowledge Hands-on experience designing EWP floor systems (required). Proficiency with EWP/structural design software - MiTek experience is a strong asset. Solid understanding of building codes, loading requirements, and structural design principles. Ability to read architectural and structural drawings and accurately visualize 3D framing layouts. Familiarity with conventional framing, engineered wood components, and roof/floor systems. Skills & Strengths Strong knowledge of wood products, building codes, and specialized design software, such as MiTek. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proactive communicator who can work effectively with customers, coworkers, and management. Comfortable working independently, while also contributing positively to a team environment. Competent computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
