Java Engineer

Java Engineer Location: US — Remote (Anywhere) About the Role We're seeking a Java Engineer with strong production-support and troubleshooting instincts to join a fully remote team. This role combines development with operational support: you'll write and maintain Java code while also serving as a key resource for diagnosing application issues, analyzing logs, and helping engineering teams resolve problems quickly. What You'll Do Develop, maintain, and support Java applications and services Write and optimize SQL queries; work with relational databases through Java JDBC Analyze application logs and apply debugging techniques to identify root causes and support engineers in resolving production issues Collaborate with cross-functional teams to triage, track, and close out incidents and defects Contribute to monitoring, automation, and operational reliability across the application stack Required Skills Proficiency in Java Proficiency in SQL , including a solid understanding of Java JDBC operations Proven experience analyzing application logs and using debugging techniques to help engineers resolve issues Preferred Skills Experience with streaming and event-based technologies such as NATS and Kafka Experience with one or more of: Jenkins, Splunk, Dynatrace, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Docker, Chef Infra, Chef Habitat Experience with shell scripting (ksh, bash) and familiarity with Unix/Linux Experience using Jira Prior experience working within Mastercard Why Join Us 100% remote — work from anywhere in the US Hands-on work across modern development, streaming, and cloud-native technologies Collaborative team that values strong troubleshooting and ownership Show more Show less
