Lead Cloud Application Architect – Google Cloud & Kubernetes Modernization Andiamo is hiring on behalf of a client seeking a highly experienced Cloud Application Architect to lead enterprise-scale cloud transformation and application modernization initiatives. This hybrid opportunity is available across several U.S. locations, including Nashville, TN, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, and New Jersey. About The Opportunity This role is ideal for a senior technology leader who thrives at the intersection of cloud architecture, application modernization, and client advisory. You will serve as a strategic architect and trusted technical partner, helping organizations modernize complex application ecosystems while leveraging the full power of Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes. Beyond designing solutions, you will influence technical direction, establish architectural standards, mentor engineering teams, and guide enterprise customers through large-scale transformation initiatives. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with executive-level stakeholder engagement and cross-functional leadership. What You’ll Be Responsible For Enterprise Architecture Leadership Define and oversee end-to-end cloud-native architecture strategies across application, data, integration, and platform domains. Establish architectural standards, governance frameworks, and technology guidelines that drive consistency across programs. Evaluate technical tradeoffs and ensure solutions align with both business objectives and long-term scalability requirements. Own critical architectural decisions and guide successful execution across multiple initiatives simultaneously. Application Modernization & Cloud Transformation Lead the modernization of enterprise applications through cloud-native design principles and scalable architecture patterns. Design and guide the development of microservices-based solutions using technologies such as Java, Node.js, and Python. Architect RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed application frameworks. Provide strategic guidance for migration approaches, including re-platforming, refactoring, and full application re-architecture. Drive modernization efforts that improve agility, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. Google Cloud & Kubernetes Architecture Design secure, scalable, and highly available platforms built on Google Cloud Platform. Lead Kubernetes architecture initiatives with a strong focus on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Develop cloud infrastructure strategies that support automation, resilience, and rapid deployment. Architect CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code frameworks, and cloud integration patterns. Leverage cloud-native services, messaging systems, and event-driven technologies to enable modern application ecosystems. Client Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement Partner directly with business and technology leaders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into actionable technical roadmaps. Lead architecture workshops, design reviews, and executive-level discussions. Serve as a trusted advisor throughout cloud transformation and modernization programs. Support solution development, proposal creation, and customer-facing technical engagements. Technical Leadership & Team Development Mentor architects, engineering leaders, and technical teams across multiple programs. Create reusable architectural patterns, frameworks, and best practices that accelerate delivery. Drive alignment across engineering organizations and ensure architectural consistency at scale. Promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. What You Bring 15+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, or related technical leadership roles. Deep hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native application architectures. Extensive experience designing and modernizing enterprise applications at scale. Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, including architecture, deployment patterns, and operational best practices. Strong experience with microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. Expertise working with cloud data platforms and services, including modern analytics and transactional data solutions. Experience with messaging technologies, integration frameworks, and cloud connectivity patterns. Strong understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation strategies. Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple teams and organizational boundaries. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level interactions. Proven success influencing technical direction and delivering architectural outcomes in complex enterprise environments. Preferred Background Experience leading large-scale cloud migration and modernization programs. Expertise with BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and other cloud-native data services. Strong understanding of security, compliance, and governance in enterprise cloud environments. Experience supporting pre-sales efforts, solution strategy, and customer presentations. Background working within consulting, professional services, or enterprise transformation organizations.
