Work includes performing routine and complex diagnostic hematology and coagulation testing on blood and other body fluids according to standard operating procedures in order to provide accurate and timely results; completing cross match in order to provide compatible blood and blood components for surgery, treatment and trauma situations; and performing other related duties as required.Job DemandsBy applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Occasionally lifts and/or unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs.Regularly stands or sits for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports/results.Visual and auditory concentration are constant and eye/hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness are required.Job QualificationsGraduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.Successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technologist national examination in the applicable field(s) of practice, as recognized in Canada, is required.Current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.A satisfactory record of work performance is required.**Laboratory Technologist I?s in the Haematology and Transfusion Services Department currently float between Haematology and Transfusion Services.**The successful applicant must be willing to complete refresher courses at the first available opportunity at the request of the employer.
