1 Work Location: San Luis Obispo County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Facility: DSH - Atascadero Job Description And Duties The Nurse Practitioner (Safety) - Family will be directed by the Chief Physician and Surgeon, or designee, in the Central Medical Services Department at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: In accordance with established protocols and in collaboration with a physician, provides clinical assessment and case management services to individuals including constructing and interpreting a medical history, performing a physical assessment, evaluating patient behavior, performing and interpreting selected laboratory tests, identifying problems, and developing and implementing treatment plans for patients. Under physician’s direction, does other related work, sick call, foot clinic, screening audiometry and physical ability testing audits. Refers patients to physician for consultation and to specialized health resources for treatment but retains responsibility for the clinical management as well as subsequent modification. Seeks expert opinion or advice of a physician when case falls outside of protocol of agency Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI). Assists in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment through response to physical assaults, escape attempts or other major patient disturbance, and assists in the management of the conduct of the patients. The employee is required to keep current with the completion of all required training, including maintaining CPR certification. If you do not have eligibilty you must take the exam.
