Payments Product Owner

Job Title: Payments Product Owner Location: New York, NY Job Description We are seeking an experienced Payments Product Owner to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of innovative payment solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional partners to define product vision, prioritize features, and deliver scalable payment capabilities that enhance customer experience and meet business objectives. Key Responsibilities Define and manage the product roadmap for payment platforms and services. Gather, analyze, and prioritize business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria. Collaborate with engineering, architecture, QA, and business teams throughout the product lifecycle. Drive Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and product enhancements. Ensure compliance with payment industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices. Monitor product performance using KPIs and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement. Coordinate product releases, manage dependencies, and communicate roadmap updates to stakeholders. Support integration initiatives with payment processors, banking partners, and third-party platforms. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Business Analysis within the payments domain. Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, including ACH, Wire, RTP, SWIFT, Cards, ISO 20022, and digital payments. Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with tools such as Jira and Confluence. Experience defining product roadmaps, writing user stories, and managing product backlogs. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills. Knowledge of payment regulations, compliance, and risk management. Experience collaborating with engineering teams to deliver enterprise-scale payment solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a customer-first mindset. Preferred Qualifications Experience with payment gateways, core banking systems, or fintech platforms. Knowledge of cloud-based payment architectures and API-driven integrations. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or similar Agile certification. Experience working in large-scale enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
